Bestofthebestwebhosting.com has removed IX Web Hosting from its list of tried, true and recommended hosts. For the past three months, the availability of BOBIXWebHosting.com (previously hosted at IX Web Hosting) has been, by far, the worse of all five hosts covered here.
During the month of March, for example, we recorded 8 separate downtime incidents totaling 7 hours (an uptime percentage of 99.1%). Though outages were fewer and somewhat shorter in February and early April the issues were similar and fell below the uptime of the other BOB hosts. For comparison purposes, both 1&1 and Hostmonster enjoyed 100% uptime in March.
Any explanation of their recent dowtime and unavailability issues would be pure speculation on our part, but IX Web Hosting recently migrated to a new data center in Columbus, OH (from Hopkinsville, KY). Whether that has anything to do with service levels is up to IX Web Hosting to decide (and hopefully report to prospective customers).
It should be noted that our relationship with IX Web Hosting technical support and billing remained good to the end and we were promptly refunded the unused portion of our hosting fee (less the otherwise free domain name registration).
We sincerely hope that IX Web Hosting is able to find and fix the causes of their recent availability issues. If successul, we have little doubt that they will find their way back to the top tier of web hosts. Bestofthebestwebhosting.com wishes them the best of luck.
